Concession Fares
Concession Travel
Some
residents of the ACT are eligible for concession travel on ACTION's services.
If you wish to travel on a concession fare, you must show the driver your
concession card when you board the bus. If you travel on a concession
fare without a concession card you may be fined $50.
Acceptable Concession Cards
ANU, University of Canberra, Canberra Institute of Technology, ACT College
and High School Students Identity Card
- University and CIT students must have full-time marked on student ID
- Must have photo identification
- Concession fares at all times
- ACT college and high school students only
- Students 15 years or over are required to show these cards for concession
fare, otherwise full fare will be charged
ACTION Students Concession Card
- Issued by ACTION Concession Officer
- Must include full-time status and must include photo
- Concession fares at all times
- Students 15 years or over required to show these cards for concession
fare, otherwise full fare will be charged
International Student Identity Card
- Includes University, TAFE, College and High School Students attending
Australian educational institutions
- Issued to full-time students
- Concession fares at all times
- Must have photo identification
- Students 15 years or over required to show these cards for concession
fare, otherwise full fare will be charged
(CENTRELINK) Pensioner Concession Card
ACTION Concession Card
- Issued by CENTRELINK
to eligible benefit recipients
- New Start Allowance; Partner Allowance; Youth Allowance (job seekers
only); Sickness Allowance; Additional Parenting Allowance (Partnered);
Special Benefit
- Pensioner Concession Card (PCC) clients eligible on interim basis
(whilst waiting receipt of PCC Card)
- Health Care Card holders - who are classified as low income earners
(see CENTRELINK for details)
- The Health Care Card (HCC) is not accepted by ACTION for travel
concession purposes (as not all recipients of this card are entitled
to concessional travel)
ACT Seniors' Card
- Issued by Canberra
Connect Shop fronts

- Eligible for Concession fares during peak periods and the Pensioner Off-Peak ticket in Off Peak periods
- Interstate Seniors' Card are not accepted by ACTION
DVA Gold Card
- Issued by Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA)
- Concession fares at all times
Vision Impaired Travel Pass
- Issued by ACTION to eligible recipients
*Off-peak periods are between 9am and 4.30pm and after 6pm on weekdays,
and all day on weekends and public holidays.
